Dark Shadows

When I discovered several years back that all 26 seasons of "Dark Shadows" were available for streaming, I made a declarative statement. "If I an ever lose my job, I'll sit at home, grow a beard and watch them all"!!   The pandemic hasn't left me unemployed and health experts (my co-worker) say a beard can catch the virus, but I've still decided to take up "Dark Shadows" in my downtime.

I have an interesting history with "soaps". My first conscious recollection of a boner was watching actors make out on "Guiding Light". I wasted copious amounts of time in college with a soap opera block that included "Ryan's Hope" "All my Children", "One Life to Live" and "Guiding Light".  Even after I'd ditched them all, I'd occasionally tune into "Young and the Restless" at my Grandmothers and could follow the story.

I grew up in aa home characterized by a stilted emotional expression, it was comforting to know exactly what's going on and what's probably coming next!  "Dark Shadows" was a favorite of the teenager across the street who would watch us on occasion when mom had an errand to do. Jonathon Frid as Barnabas was the cool 60's vampire.

So in these uncertain times,  Instead of weed, I'm dulling my senses with some daytime melodrama. It's as old as Moliere and it'll get you where you need to go.
