Sheropi

“Sheropi” is my latest release on Bandcamp. Like many of my tunes, it had a quick birth but a long gestation. The main riff I composed on a mini-Moog while waiting around in a tire shop!!! It's that Keith Richards quote about the antenna going up to receive the song from the ethos (don't share that with Ed Sheeran's attorneys).

The next part was coming up with a Loop to experiment over. A Korg Kaossilator is fun and very intuitive. I channeled something similar to a 16 bit video game. “Frogger” came to mind as I tried to expand the idea without getting runover. It reminded me of a cute get well card I received when I was hit by a car like dear Frogger many years ago.  In my free association, I conjured Disco Fries (fries with gravy) and the Grey Lady of Liberty Hall, a famous Frankfort KY ghost story. Of course, I had to marry these images to a Femme Fatale of some sort. Twelve String and E-bow completed the picture. The image of Keroppi from “Hello Kitty” also worked it's way into the stew.

I then had a brief but productive session with my kid brother, J Skinner. He added some ornamental bass pops on his Music Man. After some more marination and prevarication (mainly about whether the vocal is ok), I gave it a bit of space echo. Despite, the surrealism in the lyrics, it is ultimately a song about eternal Spring (it always comes) and rebirth. I've let it loose into the world. I wish it godspeed!!!
