Martin vs. Gibson Shoot Out

Our JHQ live album came out yesterday. Check it out here https://jimmyhoneyman.bandcamp.com/album/jhq-jimmy-honeyman-quartet-positively-live   The cool thing for me as the "producer" is remembering the fun times that we had and how we got particular sounds live.

My main guitar was a Martin with a Fishman rare earth pick-up. It recently got a fret job after 21 years of service and the tech at Curriers Music World commented "this guitar was well played" I wrote most of the songs on "Jimmy Honeyman" pretty quickly after I got that guitar. I bought the Fishman humbucker so that I could use the same guitar live. While it has a beautiful tone, there are easier guitars to busk on for 2 to 3 hours at a time!! Hence the wear.

Ronnie Doo Wop rented a Fender Dobro for the album session but got an acoustic electric Gibson Hummingbird. If you've seen John Lennon's guitar in " A Hard Day's Night" his is a fancier version.

I'm currently using a Dean Markley pick-up in a Takamine 12-string. I'm seriously eyeing a Gretsch Rancher my upcoming gigs for the Sweet Gene Vincent Factor!  JHQ Positively LIve is a good document of the way we were.
