Up all night

I decided to listen to The Records on CD this week to mix up my commuting routine. I started in reverse with "Music on Both Sides". I was quiet fond of it in 1981, particularly "Not so much the time", the rest sounds a bit derivative now.

"Crashes" is next (it was the 2nd album). Though loaded with great tunes, it is clear the band was never the same when Huw Gower left. I had a Marvel "What if " moment and fantasized about Wally Byrson from Raspberries joining instead of Jude Cole.

"The Records" or "Shades in Bed" is truly a lost classic. When i bought this reissue several years back, I was in love and could finally appreciate "Up all night" in a way my virginal teen self never could. It's ace!!
