Love is a concept

John Lennon once sang "God is a concept by which we measure our pain."  I'd argue that Love is a concept by which many evaluate their success in life. Of course, it is the subject of 90 percent of all songs at least. I might be underestimating that. Since it's Valentine's Day, it got me thinking about albums that's concept seemed to be love, lust, and relationships. All are probably on Spotify or Youtube.

The Proclaimers "Let's Get Married"- A pretty honest look at domestic life from soup to nuts with soulful vocals and performances. You don't walk 500 miles without learning a thing or two.

Elvis Costello and the Attractions "Imperial Bedroom"- Kinda the aftermath of attaining the object of your affections.

Buzzocks "Singles Going Steady"- Pete Shelley distilled adolescent angst into 2 minute and 30-second burst of poetic rocket fuel.

Dexy's "Dexy's"- Formerly Dexy's Midnight Runners,  This is a song cycle about isolation vs isolation laying over into the generativity vs stagnation stage of life. I know that pop music has retarded my emotional growth at times. This album covers that.

Tim Buckley "Honeyman"  Sleazy middle-aged soul. Like Dorian Gray's portrait exposed to light.

Bryan Ferry "Boys and Girls" follow up to Avalon. It states clearly what we all know. We are "Slaves to Love"

Beach Boys "Pet Sounds"  longing in your bedroom at mom and dad's house on Valentine's day music.

Can you think of others?
